Transit - İstanbul İmprovisation Days was founded by Talin Büyükkürkciyan and Yanael Plumet in 2005. This festival aimed to connect improvised dance and music and happened to be the first İmprovised Dance Festival in Turkey. In 2005, the first year of the festival Kirstie Simson and Le Quand Ninh was guest teachers. In 2006, the second year of the festival the guest teachers were Julyen Hamilton and Barre Phillips. In later years other than Julyen Hamilton and Barre Phillips the festival hosted Nancy Stark Smith who is the pioneers of Contact Dance.
